Mae fy ffydd Gristnogol ac egni fy mamwlad yn ysbrydoliaeth cyson ac yn ddylanwad cryf ar fy enaid creadigol. Wrth i mi deithio gyda fy llyfr braslunio mae rhywbeth yn siwr o ddenu fy llygaid a bydd rhaid i mi ei ddehongli a'i gofnodi - y tywydd gwyllt, golau haul ar fryn pell a chysgodion yn creu patrymau a lliwiau cyfnewidiol. Gweadau cyfoethog natur a dylanwad dyn ar y tir yw’r themâu sy’n llifo trwy fy ngwaith. Arsylwi a chofnodi yw asgwrn cefn fy nghrefft, a dwi’n mwynhau mynychu dosbarthiadau darlunio bywyd a gweithdai gan gyd-artistiaid er mwyn parhau i ddysgu.

Bûm yn hynod ffodus i gael fy nylanwadu gan sawl mentor creadigol brwd, gan gynnwys Miss Griffiths yn Ysgol Gynradd Morfa, Elis Gwyn Jones fy Athro Celf Uwchradd, John Baum (hefyd yn ddisgybl EGJ) fy Nhiwtor Cwrs Sylfaen, a Tony Daffern fy nhiwtor BA Dylunio Graffeg.

Ar ôl graddio, gweithiais fel Dylunydd Graffeg / Cyfarwyddwr Celf / Cyfarwyddwr Creadigol yn CC (cyn cyfrifiaduron). Dysgais sut i greu gwaith marchnata a phrint â llaw rhydd. Mae fy ngyrfa wedi byw a bod dros 40 mlynedd tra’n gweithio yn Lerpwl, Llundain a Gogledd Cymru - yn creu gwaith trefnus, rheoledig a masnachol fel dylunydd graffeg llawrydd. Wrth i'm gyrfa ddatblygu, gwnaeth fy nghelf hefyd. Nes i esblygu o’r graffeg pwyllog a rheoledig i ffurf fwy hyblyg a rhydd wrth greu delweddau o Ben Llyn, tirweddau Cymru a phortreadau o ffrindiau a theulu yn defnyddio siarcol, paent acrylig, a chyfryngau cymysg.

Fe wnaeth mynychu Cwrs Celf a Lles yng Ngholeg Menai wella fy nealltwriaeth o'r berthynas rhwng celf a'i ddefnydd i fynegi a rhyddhau profiadau emosiynol. Defnyddiais rai o'r technegau ar fy hun, fel Tiwtor Cymunedol, a phan oeddwn i'n dysgu mewn Cartref Preswyl ar gyfer pobl ifanc â ymddygiad heriol. Rwyf wedi darparu prosiectau celf dros gyfnod o wythnosau mewn ysgolion cynradd, gan arwain yr ystafell ddosbarth mewn gweithdai Theatr byd natur ac wedi darparu gweithdai creadigol a stiwdio agored yn ystod fy nghyfnod yn rhentu uned ym Mharc Gwledig Glynllifon.

Yn dilyn menter fusnes teuluol lwyddiannus iawn yn 2014, rwyf wedi gwneud ymdrech gydwybodol i ailgysylltu â'm celf y llynedd. Yr amcan oedd cyflenwi’r galw a’r angen am waith newydd. Mae gen i arddangosfa ym mhrif ystafell Oriel Ynys Môn ym Mehefin / Gorffennaf 2020 - dwi’n edrych arno fel fy ail-lawnsiad. Mae fy stiwdio wedi ei lleoli yn Siop Pitstop LL53 6AP

Rwy'n aelod o CelfGC, Gwynedd Creadigol, Axis, a.n. ac yng Ngŵyl Llyn a’r Helfa Gelf.

My Christian faith and the spirit of my homeland are a constant inspiration and a strong influence on my creative soul.  As I travel with my sketchbook in hand, there is always something to draw my eye which I must interpret and record – the wild weather, sunlight on a distant hill and shadows creating ever-changing patterns and colours. Nature’s rich textures and man’s temporary influence on the land are the themes flowing through my work. Drawing from observation is the backbone of my craft, and I enjoy attending life drawing classes and workshops by fellow artists to maintain my learning.

I have been most fortunate to be influenced by several enthusiastic creative mentors, including Miss Griffiths in Ysgol Morfa Primary School, Elis Gwyn Jones my secondary school Art Teacher, John Baum (also an EGJ pupil) my Foundation Course Tutor, and Tony Daffern my Graphic Design BA tutor.

After graduation, I worked as a Graphic Designer/Art Director/Creative Director in early BC (before computers). I learned to create work for publicity or printing by free hand. My career has spanned over 40 years creating organised, controlled and commercial work as a freelance graphic designer working in Liverpool, London and North Wales. As my career developed so did my art, and I moved away from measured and controlled graphics into a more fluid and impressionistic art form - usually creating images of Pen Llyn, landscapes of Wales and portraits of friends and family using charcoal, acrylic paint, and mixed medias.

Attending an Art & Wellbeing Course in Coleg Menai improved my understanding of the relationship between art and its usefulness in expressing and releasing emotional experiences. I used some of the techniques on myself, as a Community Tutor, and when I taught in a Residential Home for teenagers with challenging behaviour. I have provided art projects over a period of weeks in primary schools, leading the classroom in outside sourced Theatre workshops. During my period renting a studio in Glynllifon Country Park, I had an open studio and provided creative workshops.

Following a very successful new family business venture that began in 2014, I have made a conscious effort to reconnect with my art over the past year. My focus has been creating new pieces to feed the supply the demand for new work. I have an exhibition in Oriel Ynys Môn main gallery in June/July of 2020 which I am viewing as my re-launch. My stiwdio is at Siop Pitstop LL53 6AP

I am a member of ArtNW, Gwynedd Creadigol, Axis, a.n. and in Llyn Festival and Helfa Gelf.
